Colonization is very important and was very important in the past and even in the present, but colonizations also affected many problems or issues we have today. Some of the impacts of colonizations were environmental degradation, the spread of disease, economic instability, ethnic rivalries, and human rights violations. Colonizations set up and impacted many of our Kahiau project topics in many different ways but one of the biggest ones were economic instability. My Kahiau project topic is poverty in Hawaiʻi but there is poverty all around the world. With colonization impacting economic instability this impacted many peopleʻs money situation. Part of the economy is the taxes we pay and with this instability it could of made us rely on bigger and more taxes people needed to pay. With more taxes needed to be paid, people with a little income could of been affected and this could of led to poverty. This leaves them with no money and canʻt afford a house or even bill. This is how the economic instability from colonizations impacted poverty around the world and my Kahiau project topic. Imperialism definitely changed our understanding of our culture, language, and activism in our community. As Hawaiians, imperialism defiantly impacted our history with the overthrow and other military things. The Hawaiian language was affected in history by imperialism because of the introduction of the english language also led to the decrease in our language. With our culture the same thing happened, and our culture was decreased as things became more advanced. But the one thing that was positive was the activism. The activism of this was important because it led to the Hawaiianʻs protesting and standing up which is a good thing. Overall, imperialism affected the Hawaiian culture in many ways. Blakemore, Erin. The industrial age and the Revolutions that happened impacted and affected my Kahiau Project Topic globally throughout history in many different ways. My Kahiau Topic is poverty, although poverty wasnʻt created directly from the industrial age and the Revolutions these things definitely affected them. With the change in technology and the industrial age we started to get more advanced. Throughout the whole world technology has advanced and we have been relying on it for so long. But some people donʻt have access to this technology which means they might not have access to jobs, money, and houses. This is what I think is causing poverty. This is all just a big cause and affect, with all this technology being so expensive and advanced some canʻt get this which leads to other issues and overall poverty. With the Revolutions as well this caused the way the government works and how we rule. Each country rules differently but these Revolutions definitely affected them. With the way the government rules the way we live changes and some people canʻt change. In Hawaiʻi the cost of living is very expensive and the way our government runs some people struggle. This just shows how much the industrial age and the Revolutions impacted my Kahiau Topic.
Art can showcase and highlight social concerns in history and modern society in many ways. There are many forms of art work, and they all show us something. Art work can show us different meanings and different perspectives. In art there is always a message or theme throughout it, but when you add things like activism to it then it will bring out the message even more. Many of celebrities use music, performances, and even art to express about issues. Especially during times like this, it is important to share about all of the issues and how you feel. Poem I fly, high in the sky But when I come down, I start to frown. I either hit a glove, or the ground. But I get hit, and get thrown around a bit. All I see is the sky, the ground, and people. My poem connects to something I like and is one of my hobbies. I wanted to write about something that connects to me and write it in there perspective. I decided to write about a baseball. My poem reflects what a baseball would see on a daily basis or during a practice or game. This poem is showing a baseballs life and can connect to our life and how we see many different things and do different things.
The most important connection between World History and current event advocacy is just history. Most current events happen because of the past and past events. Some of the most popular events are racism, climate change, and many more. People want to see change in the present and future, and some things are different than our past. The reason why people advocate for current events is to provide hope for a change or to cause change. So the most important connection between World History and current event advocacy is history itself. The most impactful idea or concept that I have gained from the Rock Your World Curriculum about the importance of media advocacy is our voice and the platforms we use. I think that our voice and our platforms that we have is important for us, and we need to use what we have to share out. I think that as my generation gets older and we start to mature, our voices are important in advocacy. As we grow and learn more about the problems we face the more we need our voices and platforms to share out about the problem and how to fix them. We can also share and spread the word and what we know. Also, with our voices and advocacy this generation will have more opportunities to create solutions to our worldwide problems and will be able to fix it. This generation's voices and platforms is the most impactful idea that I learned. American Historical Association, (2021, March 3) Bringing Historical Context to Current Events. The Silk Road was very important in ancient times in Europe and Asia. The Silk Road was important because of how much trading was happening, and trading was a big part of the economy during those times. The Silk Road has impacted many things like trading, economy, money, culture, and certain items. But the way the Silk Road impacted my Kahiau Topic is
