I learned that art can be used to showcase and highlight social concerns in history and modern society. Through art you are able to express your feelings in thoughts through a more creative way. Being able to do this could help make your issue more known and understandable to many people around the world since everyone comprehends/learn things in a different way. Art could also help express emotions you thought you never felt before and it could also help you make connections with people around the world. For example Dania, a poem write, expresses her feelings about her experiences she's been through through writing. Writing poems and sharing them has helped her make connections and find out that many more people go through the things she is going through and she is not alone. So not only can art help your issue to be known or understood but it could also allow you to make personal connections to people. In my poem I focused on telling more about my home and the importance of one. A home is not just house or place but it's somewhere you feel safe and comfortable in. A home also can't just be a place but could also be a person an object or a feeling. In this case, my poem focuses on my home which is Hawaiʻi and a specific place that brings me a feeling of safety is the beach. So I decided to just express my feelings on how important and meaningful this place is to me by expressing my thought while i'm in my safe place.

The most important connection between World History and current event advocacy is learning and being aware of important events going on around the world. World History allows me to learn and to better understand the problems going on around the world today. Current event advocacy helps me then to take those issues I’ve learned about and to choose some I’m passionate about and want to learn more about. Then creating solutions and ideas to this issue is what advocacy helps me do which eventually will spread awareness for current events going on around the world. The most impactful idea or concept that I’ve gained through this unit about the importance of media advocacy is that everyone has a voice and there’s nothing that you can not do. Since this generation is kind of fixated on technology these days there's no excuse for us to not use social media for a good use. This also goes along with not being scared to put your voice and thoughts out there about current events going on around the world. As long as you are able to have a positive mindset and as long as you put your mind and hard work into it then you shouldn’t have a problem. Rosenthal, A. (2019, September 18).
