As of the last update, I have made little to no progress. Considering that it is hard to make progress with a large non-profit organization in two days, I had a bit of struggle.
This project is important to helping the global community because, it is an issue that affects many people. Young and old, big and small. Nine out of ten times, the usage of drugs and alcohol usually ends up going too far. Many people end up dying on drug overdosage or being too drunk on alcohol and doing something that may affect the people around them on a large scale. This project is important to helping the local community because, like me. A lot of people are surrounded by drugs and alcohol in this contemporary society. The problem only grows now because, people are finding better and simpler ways to attain drugs and alcohol. I myself, have known someone who has died due to an overdose on drugs. That is why it is our job to keep this problem at a stand-still for as long as we can. Like I stated in my previous blog post, I plan to pursue my non-profit organization with my all. By 1) Calling them possibly 3-4 times a day 2) Checking with my group members on the progress they have made 3) Being accountable for the progress I have to make. Ever since coming back from Winter Break, of course like every other group we have not made a substantial amount of progress, but progress has been made. Over Winter Break, I did manage to try and contact the non-profit organization we attempted to partner with, but they never got back to me.
How do drugs and alcohol affect the brain? Drugs in itself arenʻt bad, its just how much drugs and alcohol you consume is bad for you. Nothing is bad for you, but too much anything is bad for you. For example, it is clinically shown that moderate alcohol consumption can be good for you. It has such affects of preventing heart disease, reducing your risk of an ischemic stroke, and reduce your chance of developing diabetes. But if you drink too much alcohol, then you can create almost the polar opposite affects. You can greater your chance of getting heart disease, and can increase your chance of developing diabetes. The short term affects include not being able to send and receive messages properly. I think a plan change that I need to accomplish personally is just trying to get to as many non-profit organizations that I can in the allotted time available. If I give up, then all my efforts were for not. |
