Summary People all across Scotland has recognized the need for climate action. This article shows many ways that people recognized that can help take climate action. Stores are encouraged to sell fruits and vegetables, and other perishable items to make sure people only buy what they need. They make sure that all public transport vehicles like buses, police cars, etc. have zero tailpipe emissions that contribute to Co2 emissions. According to The Scottish government's Net Zero Secretary Michael Matheson said, “The responsibility for delivering this transformation, and delivering it in a way that is fair and just for everyone, falls to all of us - it must be a shared, national endeavour, with people at its heart” (BBC News, 2021). Everyone has a responsibility to share this commitment because it pertains to everyone. If we want to be able to live healthier lives without worrying about global warming, we have to take action, and that’s what people from Scotland are doing.
Connection/Analysis This article relates to the theme of advocating for change because people in Scotland realized the need for climate change in Scotland and the world. The concept of change is a big term and a ot of people know about the need for change, but not everyone is actually putting in effort for change. When people think of taking action and change, they think of having to flip their lives around, when you could just substitute things in your daily life to make your living style more renewable. The picture in the article shows “young people that have staged a series of protests demanding more action on climate change” (BBC News, 2021a). Many people have taken it upon themselves to advocate change in a major way. Because of people like them that have a clarion call for action, even more people know about the need for climate action. Everyone leads busy lives but small changes into your life will help the overall process of climate action. There are many simple things that we can do like recycle, or spread awareness on social media because many are already going on social media. The output of Co2 is the issue and cars emit a lot of Co2, so we can minimize the emission of our personal cars by taking public transportation. Cars emit a lot of Co2, but planes have a larger emission rate, so decreasing the amount of air travel will help benefit the atmosphere. Everyone around the world is facing issues that somehow align with climate change and we need to change for it to get better. Hawaii has faced a lot of consequences because of us being an island nation, such as beach erosion, pollution, and sea levels rising. If we want our ʻāina to be beautiful for our future generations, we need to take climate action seriously, and make a change. Citations
