If Imperialization is: a policy of extending a country's power and influence through diplomacy or military force;
-->What are some examples of how Capitalism & corporate economics (Walmart/Walgreens/Target, etc) is creating challenges in your own island, community, state, nation that relates to this UN Goal / Issue? The nature of capitalism is to reward profit. Capitalism creates incentives for managers to pursue profit over decisions which would maximise social welfare. For example, here in Hawaii, some stores charge people for extra when there is a surplus. This relates to my goal because it can make it harder for the homeless to buy things and this isnʻt right. -->Why is this something to consider: Do you see a specific (friends or family you know) with a personal connection to these issues that connect with poverty or other social challenges (and please try to find at least one) - what/who is it and why? This is something to consider because all of the homeless people should be able to at least go to a store and get something to eat. Capitalism makes everything more expensive and can prevent homeless people from buying food for them or even their family. The homeless people deserve to eat. -->What, if anything, are you learning about how economic trends impact your Global issue and how has your understanding of the impacts of it perhaps influenced the way you see your group topic as a worthwhile challenge or problem to be addressed? An economic trend that has really impacted Hawaii is tourism. The Hawaiian islands are already populated enough but more and more people are coming to either live in or just come to come. This has impacted the homeless because the money being given to the government is being used for something else like a giant rail but not really for the homeless. I see this as unfair and this makes homeless people a worthwhile problem to be addressed because they deserve the money, not the rail.
