A) what are the important factors to consider which you think will set up a nation for an act of war & social revolution (such as how we see in Italy, Germany & Japan). THINK ABOUT YOUR KAHIAU PROJECT in HAWAII and what factors are present in the current Kahiau situation that might be similar to this time frame!!
The important factors to consider which will set up a nation for an act of war and social revolution is definitely a powerful and determined leader. I believe that having a powerful reason behind an act of war and social revolution is a major factor. Germany and Italy were the losers in the outcome of the Treaty of Versailles and I think that played a major role in the spark of World War 2. Germans had a social revolution for themselves when Adolf Hitler began rising up. They were at the bottom of their social chain and it made a difference. Japan was in isolation and had no allies at the time. They were excluded from everything and that was a reason behind why they were expanding into Asia and the Pacific. My Kahiau project is “Life on Land” talking about land degradation and this perfectly relates as Geography was changed after the Treaty of Versailles. B) How does this maybe connect to the current resurgence of Hawaiian identity & self-determination, if at all? I believe this all connects back especially to the current situation going on with Mauna Kea. Hawaiians are rising and this is a time of social revolution for us. We have our reasoning behind protecting our land and defending our people. We can connect to the Germans because they rose up after being put down because of the Treaty of Versailles. All of these countries rose to war due to self-determination. Hawaiians are rising for a reason and this all ties back to history. History repeats itself, not exactly as it did before it does. A revolution is rising which is what led these countries to war and social revolution.

Reflecting back on your knowledge of your Kahiau Project Topic, the UN Sustainable Goals, and the purpose and intent of the Kahiau Project to learn about and apply your own leadership values to a real world problem in our community…answer the following reflection:
I think that because I struggled last semester and didn't do too good itʻs made my personal motivation much better. I want to be better and do better than I did because I know I can. Getting a bad grade in a class you know you can do better in isnʻt the best feeling so thatʻs definitely motivated me. Iʻm motivated to have that good feeling that I've done my best to get the best grade possible in this class. I know was lazy last semester and it made me lazy in some of my other classes so itʻs all or nothing for me and I want to give my all. Paragraph 1:
1. What was planned for the Community Service? 2. What exactly ended up happening with the planned Community Service over Winter break? The plan for the Community Service was for all of us to do our own separate service relating to our “Life on Land” topic. Zeke was planning to volunteer at a nature service which was my plan too and Keali’i was planning to do a nature related service on his island because he’s a boarder. Keali’i ended up doing his service over Winter break but all of us didn’t really keep in touch so weren’t aware of what everyone was doing. Me and Zeke didn’t do our service and got caught up and busy during the break. Paragraph 2: 2. What went well? 3. What could have gone better? How did you compensate for it? I think what went well is our planning for the service. We all agreed that doing our own separate service would be more convenient for all of us. I also believe what went well is that we all exchanged numbers before leaving for break just in case. But we didn’t really communicate over break which really could’ve gone better. We can’t really compensate for it right now but I personally think that I could’ve made more of an effort. Although we were all busy I see that Keali’i did his service which I should’ve done too. Our planning was really good but we weren’t really set on it we just had solid ideas that we were depending on. Paragraph 3: 4. Is your understanding of poverty and other UN issues of humanity improving? 5. Is your connection to, AND APPLICATION of leadership skills expanding as a result of what you are doing in the Kahiau Project - yes or no - Explain how or why with an example from this Winter Community Service Assignment. My understanding of poverty and other UN issues of humanity is improving. Over this break many current events happened which I did read about and still am because of the impact these events are having on everyone. Now I’m always watching the news and talking to my grandpa because he’s really educated with things such as politics and environmental disasters. I don’t think my leadership skills are expanding because of the Kahiau Project because I didn’t fully complete it. Because I didn’t physically do the Winter Community Service I can’t say explain how I haven’t grown as a leader. |
