I feel like this course was very interesting and added value to my knowledge base because of how many historical connections I can make now. I can see things happening today and notice how itʻs kind of a repeat of history and maybe I could try to look more into why whatever is happening is happening. I do feel like the kahiau project helped me to see that problems in Hawaiʻi today like homelessness and poverty happened all throughout history to native people all over the world. And itʻs really interesting to see because of how we find that those problems were almost never solved because of the grip the white man has on native and indigenous peoples. I feel like maybe I could use it but maybe not because of how rushed it was and probably wasnʻt to my best effort. I feel like it would be better if I had taken this course during the regular school year so I could really have more time to work on it.

The idea of self efficacy through advocacy is something that will probably be very valuable in my future because if I want to be able to take care of myself and the people around me I have to be able to make sure that we are all being looked out for by the government in times of need. I need to be able to let our voices be heard because I need to be able to be sure that we will always be safe, and I donʻt want any discrimination or prejudice to keep us from that. So advocacy will most definitely need to be one of my most valuable skills in life because if we canʻt even speak up for ourselves, how will we ever be able to speak for others that we love and care for? All in all, advocacy directly affects how well we'll be able to fend for ourselves in the future, and that's why I believe itʻs so valuable to gain that skill and hone it now.
