Colonization effects our topic of poverty due to its effect on others. With many third world countries or places it can cause many people to flock to one place causing it to lose or have less resources for the indigenous people of their homeland. I feel that this can have a heavy impact and can cause a domino effect for those who are struggling as more people require aid the more people have to help support them which could lead to having less financial stability. This can hurt modern efforts to support poverty because the number of people increase leading to the need of more funding or support to those giving to others. With the ever increasing rate of poverty colonization is its own contributing factor to how we will have to support those in need. While Imperialism allowed for those to improve their quality of life and discover new products, it also lowered the quality of life for those being taken advantage from. When a country forces their way to rule it creates a hierarchy in power an example being slaves/slave trade. Imperialism changed the way countries saw power. The need to expand and gain more power added fear to each country. I feel that this also changed the view of events as the rulers could write history making it fit to their liking and not taking in what the other side may be experiencing. I feel it contributes to deterring us from finding a solution to problems occurring in Hawai’i, but is something we can learn from. Now we know to express our thoughts and voices in what we believe is right.
