CargoTrans. (2018, February 20). Ever wonder what happens to the THOUSANDS of containers that fall off ships every year? CargoTrans. https://cargotransinc.com/2018/02/20/ever-wonder-happens-thousands-containers-fall-off-ships-every-year/ The silk road was created for the purpose of exchanging resources as well as culture. As we've learned in previous classes, the exchange of culture and good was very important to the growth of society. This contributes to what we've learned about globalization. Staying social and learning helped us grow as a society. In a way this could relate to life below water. Trade today has affected our oceans. Shipping containers fall into our ocean creating a lot of ocean waste. Around 1,582 shipping containers are lost each year to be exact. And what's even worse is most containers sink to the ocean floor meaning it would be harder to retrieve them. Greenpeace. (2019). Preventing Plastic Pollution. Greenpeace USA. https://www.greenpeace.org/usa/oceans/preventing-plastic-pollution/Although trade has benefited many parts of our world, there is a lot of harm the came to our environment , including our oceans. Like i've said before a lot of waste comes from trading. A lot of that trade ends up in the ocean. Our Kahiua Project discusses waste that ends up in the ocean. What we want to do is clean our oceans as well as keeping waste from ending up in our oceans. Things we can do to prevent waste is conserving water, reduce pollutant usage, and reduce usage of items that may harm our oceans like plastics.
