If Imperialization is: a policy of extending a country's power and influence through diplomacy or military force;
-->What are some examples of how IMPERIALIZATION / GLOBALIZATION is creating challenges in your own island, community, state, nation that relates to this UN Goal / Issue? Imperialism is creating conflict within our country due to our president. He is trying to take over and establish more than needed and is destroying allies along the way. He only thinks of what is good for him and his business and money and doesnt think of the people it affects. -->Why is this something to consider: Do you see a specific (friends or family you know) with a personal connection to this (and please try to find at least one) - what/who is it and why? This is close to my dog cyrus. Once he became the biggest dog in the house, he tried to imperialize himself by becoming the alpha male in the house. He is a pitbull mastiff mix so he is huge and strong but i just slapped him and hes all good now. -->What, if anything, are you learning about Imperialization/Globalization and how has your understanding of the impacts of it perhaps influenced the way you see your group topic as a worthwhile challenge or problem to be addressed? Globalization happens globally. Its not just in a state or country or city, it happens worldwide and there is little we can do to stop something bad from spreading globally. What are some examples of how COLONIZATION OR GLOBALIZATION is creating challenges in your own island, community, state, nation that relates to this UN Goal / Issue?
Colonization is taking a toll on my community and island because every extra space of land is being used to build new high rises and new houses for more people. If we continue to use up all the space we wont have any land left and it will just turn into a city not an island. Why is this something to consider: Do you see a personal connection to this (and please try to find at least one) - what is it and why? This is something to consider because if we continue to build and not give back to the land, then we will have no animals or plants left on the island and it will become a concrete jungle instead of the beautiful jungle and rainforests it is now. What, if anything, are you learning about Colonization or Globalization and how has your understanding of the impacts of Colonization and/or Globalization perhaps influenced the way you see your group topic as a challenge or problem to be addressed? I see my topic as a great topic amongst this island because a lot of this island is covered with homeless people. Almost everywhere you go, you will see homeless people and hear about the “crackheads” that live in that area. I think that if we can help them, this island could regain its beauty and cleaness. Aloha United Way began serving Hawaii's people in 1919 when Frank C. The United Welfare Fund was formed to create a more efficient way to raise money for 17 charitable institutions, changing history by bringing in $186,000 its first campaign year. The United Welfare Fund became a separate legal entity in 1938. In 1966, a citizens' committee dissolved the Honolulu Community Chest and created the Aloha United Fund. During 1990s, Aloha United Way shifted from a focus on fundraising to a focus on inspiring collective solutions to community problems. |
