Our Kahiau topic was poverty and the way the industrial age impacted poverty was that it caused people to separate into social classes. Instead of one whole community working to survive, now you have a bunch of individuals competing to be better then the person next to them. We see this in our world today. That is why we want to go to the best schools and have the most money. People are fighting their way up in society and the people who fall behind become poor. BBC, (20 May, 2020). One of the examples is of slavery and racism. In school, we learn about slavery so we can get a better understanding of why there is racism in the world today.
