Self-efficacy through advocacy is something that will be valuable for one's future because being able to confidently support a cause or issue for good and speak on that issue will give one more confidence in themselves which leads to the success in someone achieving and reaching a goal. Confidence in oneself is the key to success in any society. According to Advocate Health Care, “Confidence means feeling sure of yourself and your abilities — not in an arrogant way, but in a realistic, secure way. Confidence isn't about feeling superior to others. It's a quiet inner knowledge that you're capable” (Confidence (for Teens) - Advocate Health Care, 2021). Mental Health Net states, “The first step to become an effective self-advocate is to believe in yourself. This means you are aware of your strengths and knowing that you are worthwhile, and that you are willing to take good care of yourself. Many people who have troubling emotional symptoms or who have a disability struggle with self-esteem” (Being an Effective Self-Advocate, 2015). Before someone can advocate for others, and the issues they feel are important, they need to have confidence within themselves and know that they are capable of doing whatever is needed to be done.
