Colonization sets up or impacts my Kahiau Project topic as we see it globally throughout our study of history by making our solutions only reach our country or so far. Being that the whole world isnʻt united or under the same government/ laws, it makes it hard just to get the solution to our entire country, and now the whole world. It hurts our modern efforts to meet these challenges because we can only spread the message and make an impact so far. These world problems might not want to be solved by some countries as they think it is useless or they are too poor to do it. Thereʻs many conflicts in the world that prevent us from helping everyone. Imperialism has changed our understanding of these things in History through the lens of our cultural history by evolving over time and being able to learn about different cultures, languages, activisms in the community, and much more. Over time, weʻve become better at accepting and understanding different people and their history. How they found solutions to things and learning/ evolving. Our mindset and how we think have evolved drastically. It helps us from navigating for a solution to these problems here in Hawaiʻi by being able to reach farther out for ideas and solutions to problems and being able to communicate and give ideas and solutions back. I think Imperialism has affected Hawaiʻi for the worst but over time, it’s been getting better and we are finding solutions.
