The topic or problem my group is focusing on is poverty, more specifically homelessness. Our group chose to pay attention to poverty around our island because it is sad that a huge number of people have to live through this struggle that they didn't choose to live through. It could be from their past family issues, lack of money, or cost of living. We wanted to make a change and see a shift in our society causing more people to get off of the streets and not laying around parks. What affected my group, but more importantly me individually, was just looking at or picturing my future. I donʻt want our society to stay the same when we get older or for the next generation after us because that wouldn't be a good life to look forward to living. I wanted to strive for excellence in this project because if we didn't make a change, the outcome of this project was a fail. If we fail, we didn't present “Kahiau” in any way by giving back to our community. Going back to last semester, Kahiau means to give lavishly with the heart. I will know I was successful if there is a change in the society today.
