When learning more about the Industrial and French revolution we notice how it has impacted our Kahiau project topics. We see that during the French revolution they took it easy on the working class while the Industrial revolution did the opposite. The French revolution changed political power while the Industrial revolution changed economic power. This impacted our Kahiau topics because it shows how each class was treated differently. Today in society there are still the levels of work, upper class, middle class, working class and then the underclass. With my topic being about homelessness, poverty, the cost of living in Hawai’i and inequality this system greatly affects it. Those that are homeless need our help to get back on their feet because it would and is very hard for them to do it on their own. It’s obvious who has the advantage in being successful in life. However, I think everyone has the ability to do great things if given the right necessities. Google. (n.d.). FL (4) French Revolution - Google Slides.webm. By learning more about things that occurred in world history and in our cultural history like the hawaiian language, culture and activism in the community, it can help us to find solutions to problems in Hawai’i by learning from the past and acting on it. We can discover the meaning behind homelessness in Hawai’i and help to spread awareness on the help they should receive to get them off the streets. We can also learn to not make the same mistakes that were made in the past. By everyone in the community coming together I’m sure we’ll be able to find a well rounded solution that will decrease the number of homeless and to ensure that Hawai’i has affordable prices for living. By comparing and relating issues from back then to today would also create solutions on how to fix these problems. We could use strategies that were put into place in the past to see if it could help change today’s society. Google. (n.d.). Video Response: How is the Industrial Age & The French Revolution similar to any cultural conflict happening in the last 3 years in Hawaii? How does this make you feel? What should we do about it?
