During our time with Ms. Jess Burnquist's along with the rock your world community, and their continuous guidance through our World History class, there are so many important connections between World History that I can make to current event advocacy. The one major connection that I can identify is the relation of leadership we learned about in World History through many films, novels, lectures, etc. I think this is the most important connection because leadership plays a huge part of current event advocacy. Being an advocate means being able to find a passion and a voice to educate and take action to better the world from current problems. Through Ms. Burnquist, who has helped us on our projects of advocacy, I learned how to become a leader by being more confident when in assigned groups; speak up, identify current issues that are occurring not only in my life but could be affecting other individuals as well, and to learn how to make a change or a difference by going into the world and identifying how to change the issue. Our time with Rock Your World was limited, but impactful. Through Ms. Jess Burnquist’s lectures, the most impactful idea or concept that I have gained through the Rock Your World Curriculum about the importance of media advocacy in how this generation will create a solution to global/worldwide problems is the significance of creating a plan and how important media is in today’s society in creating platforms to spread awareness. Through media, we are able to connect with individuals outside of our community and educate people globally. Ramirez, R.
