There are two technologies that have continued to play a huge part in world war II. They would be mass production and ships to export the goods. Mass production contributes to this war by producing artillery and supplies needed in soldiers, as well as refugee camps. The development of ships in this era allowed business owners to transport more goods making them more money. These technologies still affect Hawaiʻi today mainly because of our geography. Today we heavily rely on the big Matson containers from other countries docking on our harbors. Weʻve gave so much of our trust to shipping companies that they control our lifeline.
The factors of WWII as well as I play another large part in what our Kahiau project focuses on; global warming. By taking action in switching to renewable energy sources or cleaning up our islands, we are doing much more than slowing the deterioration of our O-zone layer. We are becoming more self-sufficient as a lāhui. We are nursing the ʻāina back to fruition so we will be able to live off of her as we have in the past. In the potential situation of WWII, we will be better prepared to protect ourselves.
