From the many presentations we had in class and all the amazing creative activist that presented their work to us. I learned that art is really important and can help show what you want to present to others. Whether it be to bring awareness for certain problems or to show the new upcoming young activist that may want to strive to become a creative activist by presenting their art work. Art can be showcased to throughout the world to bring awareness for change such as painting on street walls, canvases, and even flags for when people protest. Art in modern day society is everything because people nowadays would rather see a big sign that pops rather than read a long essay formatted article about the issue. Creative activist use art to bring awareness to our history and show how mistreated people were.

The most important part of my current event that relates to our current class is the geography of the land and how people were affected. Christchurch was known to be one of the bigger cities in New Zealand. We see how the effects of the earthquake have really transformed the whole land by destroying man-made things such as cars, houses, and sources of food and electricity. This can also relate to the health of the land and how we should keep nature around us. Now the city of Christchurch will most likely have a park the size of Central Park in New York city if not bigger. Although it is sad to see all the people getting stripped from their homes, losing necessities, and their overall lifestyle it’s also good for us to have a good place where nature is at. The most important takeaway from the speakers is that there are so many activists that are wanting to change the world little by little. I thought it was cool to know that people are willing to go this for change. From creating PSAʻs, doing presentations, and traveling all over the world to experience people’s struggles and wanting to change that. Advocacy in Hawaiʻi can bring awareness to our own problems and when we have public groups that stand up for a certain cause it makes people in our own community more confident to stand up for each other. Advocacy in the media can help serve our kānaka by bringing awareness to our problems if we have any. Works cited Activist academics threaten the integrity of higher ed. (2020, July 12).
