So, Colonization and imperialism had a great effect that would still last to today on gender inequality. Gender inequality can actually stem from the opportunities women had in the 20th century. Mainly, in the 20th century women lost their job opportunities due to colonialism. Job segregation was a big thing then and still is now. We see women in today's society where they struggle to get job offers and be able to work on certain jobs because men seem to fit that role better. In Europe men were always seen as superior to women because of strong kinship systems. Imperialism changes our view in history for many reasons. Imperialism is known as countries extending their power and force through military force. As we known from this whole class "The winners write the history". I think that having that perspective is key to understanding that maybe some things happened in a different way but due to the people winning and writing the history they are able to write it whatever way they want. I think it doesn't deter is from finding a solution but it does create a bigger one. especially because Hawaiʻi is occupied a lot by military bases and it causes more problems for Native people. Hawaiʻiʻs prices for hoes are slowly increasing a lot as time goes on making it hard for people Natives to get a house and reside here. Oahu Real Estate Report.
