How does the Industrial age & the Revolutions that occur because of it, like the French Revolution, set up or impact your Kahiau Project topic as we see it globally throughout our study of history? During the French Revolution, citizens razed and redesigned their country’s political landscape, uprooting centuries-old institutions such as absolute monarchy and the feudal system. The nobles in particular were unwilling to give up the privileges they enjoyed under the traditional system. Parisians grew panicked as rumors of an impending military coup began to circulate. This all impacts poverty because it is one of the causes. The politicians and Hawaiʻi government need to come together to focus on this issue because it is affecting more and more people each day. They also need to prevent this from happening, and they can do that by building more affordable housing for all, instead of a $12.4 billion dollar rail. All of that money could have went towards a greater cause. Now, there are more people in poverty and they are left struggling because of the decisions made by the government. History Editors. Understanding these things in History as well as knowing our cultural history through language, culture, and activism in the community, helps us navigate for a solution of these problems here in Hawaiʻi because knowing the past helps us decide for the present and future. That is how we learn and looking back at the decisions that were made and what our islands and people went through, it is important that we don’ let history repeat itself. We wan better for our children and the generations to come. So, to solve this problem, we need to take a hard look at what we want for Hawaiʻi and look at the past for answers. We know what needs to get done and we have to do it. We also need our government’s help in doing this. But, I do believe that soon enough we can get our poverty rate down and those who faces poverty and homelessness will be helped. Hofschneider, Anita.
