How does Colonization set up or impact your Kahiau Project topic as we see it globally throughout our study of history? Does this help or hurt our modern efforts to meet these challenges? Explain how or why? I think colonization did and still does have an impact on poverty, which is my UN Sustainability goal. Being colonized affects everyone and the land as well. Hawaiʻi was colonized and the lands are also being destroyed by modern technology, which is not helping Mother Nature. In Hawaiʻi, there is also a high poverty rate, which is because the government is not focused on helping them. They are more focused on building up new technology and billion dollar projects while people of Hawaiʻi are sleeping on the streets. So this hurts the modern efforts to meet these challenges. Received fromhttps://www.ozy.com/true-and-stories/how-the-american-empire-destroyed-the-kingdom-of-hawaii/74697/ How did/does Imperialism change our understanding of these things in History through the lens of our cultural history of language, culture, and activism in the community? Does it help us or deter us from navigating for a solution to these problems here in Hawaiʻi? Explain why. Imperialism changes our understanding of these things in History through the lens of our cultural history of language, culture, and activism in the community because the fight for power will always be present. Especially in governments and politicians, more of the focus is on power and what they have, but if they focus on what they don’t have, which is care and support for the people who are struggling everyday to live, then it’d be a healthier society. And I think realizing and understanding that this is the problem, it will help us to navigate a solution or solutions to the problems here in Hawaiʻi, starting with our homeless and poverty rates.
