What are some examples of how COLONIZATION OR GLOBALIZATION is creating challenges in your own island, community, state, nation that relates to this UN Goal / Issue? An example of Globalization is the plastic that flows in the ocean. This creates challenges for our oceans by killing and harming the marine life causing them to inhale and die. This relates with our goal because our UN goal is ocean pollution and we need to protect our marine, the marine life isn’t just a source of food for us but also a friend or an ʻĀumakua which is our ancestors. Why is this something to consider: Do you see a personal connection to this (and please try to find at least one) - what is it and why? This is something to consider because like I said before the marine life plays a big role into the world especially our islands, This is how our kūpuna survived and lived life, with the fish from the sea, getting their protein. As in today’s era we still live off of fish and everyone on the islands just can’t get enough of a fresh poke bowl for Foodland. Like the marine life has not only become a source of food but gives life an extra touch of specialness. What, if anything, are you learning about Colonization or Globalization and how has your understanding of the impacts of Colonization and/or Globalization perhaps influenced the way you see your group topic as a challenge or problem to be addressed? What I learned on Globalization is that the world isn’t the best at keeping trash out of the ocean and needs to a better job at that. This has influenced me to help out more when I see trash on the floor or anywhere so that it doesn’t go in the ocean and harm the marine life.
