-->What are some examples of how Capitalism & corporate economics (Walmart/Walgreens/Target, etc) is creating challenges in your own island, community, state, nation that relates to this UN Goal / Issue?
Some examples of how Capitalism and corporate economics is creating challenges in my island, community, state, and nation which relates to this UN goal and issue is the waste or rubbish made from all of these corporate economics that float into the sea and kill marine life. Also a statistic shown from N.O.P.C (National Ocean Policy Coalition) states that, “One of every 6 jobs in the U.S. is marine-related and over 1/3rd of the annual U.S. Gross National Product originates in coastal areas – approximately $700 billion!” (N.O.P.C.). Meaning the ocean is a great deal to jobs all over the world and is very important to be taken care of. -->Why is this something to consider: Do you see a specific (friends or family you know) with a personal connection to these issues that connect with poverty or other social challenges (and please try to find at least one) - what/who is it and why? This is something to consider since the ocean is obviously a big deal to everyone especially on this island, because we are surrounded with water. SInce living on the west side there are bunch of homeless set up camps on the beaches and there’s this one place out on that side that has like own little kingdom. From that it’s just basically like their own little thing that goes on and they take up all the space on the beaches. -->What, if anything, are you learning about how economic trends impact your Global issue and how has your understanding of the impacts of it perhaps influenced the way you see your group topic as a worthwhile challenge or problem to be addressed? What I’m learning about how this a ocean pollution is becoming more of a giant problem. Over the years this has escalated and became more an issue, ruining the beauty of our island. My understanding of the impacts influenced the way I see my group topic as a worthwhile challenge to be addressed because keeping the ocean clean and sanitary will be good for everyone to live a healthy and happier life.
