Colonization pretty much goes hand in hand with environmental changes after the area has been colonized. Ocean pollution definitely becomes more of a problem after an area has been colonized because waste is created in those places and the runoff and sewage form this waste goes into the ocean causing a lot of polluted waters. Many places including here are used for extracting valuable things for profit. The leftover waste is dumped into the same place since of course they wouldnʻt want to bring the waste back to where they are. In the end colonization has only hurt our oceans even in modern times. More people coming to live in Hawaiʻi will cause more production of products which causes waste. Many of the waste will end up in our oceans. People need to make profit at the end of the day which is why waste is created. Something I can take away from imperialism is that itʻs not asked for. Imperialism caused our culture to be taken away from us for a period of time which none of us wanted. Not only that but they caused harm to the land and ocean. In our culture, we are very against the idea of harming the land for selfish gain. We were taught that if the land and ocean takes care of you, you take care of it back. If anything this should make our will to change stronger. When we look back at history we can see how poorly our oceans were being treated and they still are being treated badly to this day. Which is why we need to change for the better.
