Our families can balance the need to compete in European or Western sense by protesting and fighting for what Hawaii owns. An example would be something just like the Mauna movement. Hawaiians fighting so a telescope does not get built on sacred land on Mauna Kea. We can ensure that our native people are valued in this modern world by, making us known to the world. An example would be us being one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. Being popular is one way of being know and value in this modern-day world.
I can use my gift and privilege from my education that I learned from Kamehameha Schools to ensure that the native identities of our Lāhui and other peoples of color by being a part of protesters and movements that are going against our Lāhui. Again, and example would be the Mauna movement and probably the Black Lives Matter Movement as well. Another way I can use my gifts is to become someone who really supports our Lāhui and making Hawaii one of the most respected places in our country. GET INVOLVED. (n.d.).
