I feel as though the Treaty of Versailles was the most important political document of the 20th century because after this treaty a multitude of events occurred. Places such as Germany and Italy were left with a poor economy. Living in a poor economy can lessen the morale of a country which could lead to the uprising of fascist leaders. One example of this was Hitler; he ruled over in a dictatorship only because of the poor economy in Germany that left everyone in a seemingly state of depression. Hitler made an extreme impact on the world in a terrible matter; he tricked other countries and even imprisoned the jews just because the Jewishʻs economy was skyrocketing. The Jews were faced with new energies, new technologies and new resources which made the Germans jealous.
The Treaty of Versailles that arose after the war to end all wars set up the world for World War 2 due to the weak economy that left some countries in a crisis. With a weakened economy fascist leaders were able to rule over and they had the fight to bring justice back to their own country. Leaders were able to rise and conquer; however, places such as the Pacific and hawaiʻi were impacted horribly because of this treaty. This treaty meant that these small pacific islands were up for grabs and the bigger countries could claim it; which in the end left Hawaiʻi in a cultural shock as well as a time of lost Native identity because of the transfer of powers to the United States.. In the sense of hawaiʻi we were claimed by the United States; which in the end dragged us into World War 2. Works Cited: Akana, M. (2020). Interwar Years. Presentation, Kamehameha Schools.
