I donʻt think the Cold War ideas and the threat of WW3 impacted us during this COVID19 situation this year. However, many unfortunate events have occurred in the year 2020 such as natural disasters, conflict between nations, and an unfortunate health pandemic affecting people worldwide. The Cold War ideas (nuclear war) and the threat of WW3 would just bring in more problems during this time. We canʻt predict what our government and President can do, but those ideas can definitely impact all of us during this miserable time.
The work with the Kahiau project has prepared us for this “new” living way in the COVID19 environment by looking at other perspectives and finding other ways to take care of the environment. Our topic from the Kahiau Project is “Life on Land” and the work and research we have completed have given me many ideas on how we can mālama the ʻāina. We have learned about some of the causes of environmental issues such the new inventions of technology, the use of warfare weapons, and even buildings and ships. This project research has taught us that we can do simpler tasks to decrease the environmental issue. Some examples are recycling, group clean up at parks and beaches, and using technology that is environmentally safe (solar power, eco-friendly items). This has prepared us for this new way of doing life during COVID19 by learning about different ways we could keep our ʻāina healthy and take care of the people during this pandemic.
