Many different things fall in to the category of Art, wether itʻs a painting, drawing, poem, photo, video, etc. When learning about history, we can see that many different art forms were used to document and showcase important events/highlights of the time. This is also used today in our own society. With all the guest speakers that had presented to us this past semester, I learned that different art forms are used all around the world to showcase those different events and historical/modern figures that really play a big role today. Just like in history where they use paintings to showcase that specific event or person, today in our modern society people utilize so many other forms of art to advocate. We can see that in protests/movements, signs and art pieces are made to bring attention to causes or videography is used to bring life and creativity to situations. When learning about other peopleʻs outlets we have seen cartoon work to large murals to phototograohy all around the world. Art can by used by incorporating different elements and portraying them in a different way. My project topic is Gender Equality. I created my poem, “The Injustice is Real” to talk about the issues women face today in our society. My poem highlights the unfairness of women being overlooked all of the time and not getting that same treatment they deserve. In the piece, one specific line that stood out to me was “Some may say the future is female. / But why wait?/ The future is now.” I feel this line really points out that women are so powerful that they should not be heald in a box nor treated with any less respect than men get treated with. The next generation of Female leaders cant wait until the future, it is time for them to stand up now and lead NOW. I am very passionate about my poem and it overall just reflects that this is a serious topic and people need to learn that the injustice is serious. Citations:

The most important connection between World History and current event advocacy is connecting the past to the present. When looking at current events today, we can see both similarities and differences to the problems in our current times compared to the events that already happened. Observing and learning about our history can help us to understand how things came to be and how we can go about it or what the future of it could be. We can learn many lessons from history that could possibly allow us to solve problems nowadays with modern solutions. For example, we look at the events like the civil rights movement (1954-1968) and see how the current BLM protests/movements are similar. Therefore, taking what we know about the first black movement we can use that knowledge to not only build our understanding but also develop those ideas for new and modern solutions. The most impactful idea that I have gained, is to use our ideas and create modern solutions to modern problems. When learning about the different creative outlets that people utilize, it made me realize that there are so many different ways to bring advocacy to something whether it is through art, media, etc. In our current times, we can see that people from all around use things like drawing, film making, protests, cartoon images, etc. to communicate to kids and adults about the problems. In this generation, children are way more familiar with technology and using those media outlets to communicate. The use of media can be important to communicate because using social media, videos, articles, can be more efficient and easier for students to understand and comprehend. Also, media is a humangeous part of our society today wether itʻs social media, tv, commercials, youtube videos, etc. those outlets are key to expressing your ideas and using your voice because itʻs what the people will see/understand.
