In this project my role has now changed. Originally I was supposed to help with publicity. However, there's only so much that you can do in publicity. Shaylynne is already making a website that will provide information and help get word out. Teah is making posters and handling our social media account (instagram). So I decided that perhaps it'd be best if I contributed in another way. As a group we talked and decided that we want it to be more than just an event where dogs could possibly be adopted, we want people to know WHY they should adopt and want to inform them of our purpose. The reason why we chose to do this project was because we are against euthanizing (killing of animals through a drug), a method that is used at some animal shelters when animals don't get adopted. Our hope is that through this event, not only will dogs be adopted and given a new home, but we will be able to inform those who attend of euthanization. One day our group hopes to stop shelters from euthanizing, but for now we are going to try our best to simply save those dogs that could get euthanized (not from the shelter we are working with) by getting the word out. My new job is to research more about euthanizing and be the one who talks to people during the event about this problem in order to spread the word (as well as make very cute informational pamphlets).
