After listening to the all the guest speakers, I learned that art can be used to showcase and highlight certain issues and concerns. We can use art in all forms to address the social concerns in history as well as in modern society and share what we have to say about these things. I was recently taught the idea that art should comes from what you're feeling. You shouldn’t try and force art but instead let whatever feelings or thought of mine flow out onto my art. This is why art can be used to showcase social concerns and issues that may be important to as your art comes from how you feel. You can spread your works of art around the world, thanks to social media, so that everyone can hear your voice. It doesn't matter if it’s a painting, a song, or a poem, they all contain the same thing, and that’s what you truly feel should be addressed to come up with solutions for social concerns in history and/or modern society. For my poem I decided to do it on a lamp. I was looking around my room for inspiration and then I looked right in front of me and saw my lamp. As I started writing I changed my perspective from me seeing the lamp to being the lamp itself. My poem talks about what it is like to be a lamp and it’s purpose in life. The second line, “you need light, please allow me” talks about the lamp’s purpose. Whenever we need light we turn on a lamp, but I don’t think we realize how important light is until we’re in the dark. Lamps give us light, and we need light in life, so that’s why I wanted to do my poem from a lamps perspective. The 7 Best Desk Lamps Guide and Review - Archisoup: Architecture Guides & Resources. In this world history class we have been focusing a lot current event advocacy. I believe that the most important connection between World History and current event advocacy is that the events happening currently will eventually be known as history as we go on into the future. In the past there were a lot of things that happened that shaped how the world runs today, but back then those things were known as the current events. This means that the things and current events that we are dealing with and advocating for today will also contribute to how the world changes. Although these are our current events, they will later be known as historical events to the later generations. In conclusion, current events and how or what we advocate for will become history, the worldʻs history for the future. I feel like the most impactful idea or concept that I have gained through the Rock Your World Curriculum (all the guest speakers and facilitators) about the importance of media advocacy in how this generation will create solutions to global/worldwide problems is that the media can be used to positively impact, spread, and address these issues. In the current day, social media is so popular and common in the world. People from around the globe have access to social media which also makes it a good platform to use to address issues that are worldwide. I feel that ever since last year and leading up to now, is when issues that impact people all over the world started to come up to the surface of the media and people began to discuss these problems instead of shoving them off to the side and ignoring them. With the new generations using social media, we are able to advocate for global issues that we feel need to be addressed and heard of by people. We can share our insight and perspective without stressing about getting it out to the world because with one push of a button on your phone, your voice can be shared through out all of social media. I think from now on people will continue with media advocacy to fight for what they stand for. Works cited
