Today, my group and I had time to work on the Kahiau project and I believe we made significant process. My part of this project is to research and contact different Dog Parks so that we can hold our event to help raise awareness of neglected dogs in the Oahu SPCA shelter and hopefully get them adopted. I made several calls on that day, hoping every time that someone would pick up the phone. To be completely honest, some of those ladies were just plain rude. Some of the parks that I had contacted included the Mililani Dog Park, Moanalua Dog Park and Diamond Head Bark Park.
A few days before we came back from break, I had sent an email to Momilani Dog Park located in Pearl City. While searching up other parks, I had finally received a promising email from Momilani that said that they hope they are able to discuss with us the plans for our events so it would be able to happen. What is a major set back for my group is that the park as of now is temporarily closed to the public. With that in mind, we are beginning to weigh our options. A little while later, I received a reply from the Moanalua Gardens Community Association regarding the Moanalua Dog Park. The association has happily agreed to host us, and have even stated that PET-DOPTION seems like a good program to raise awareness in the commmunity. They would like for me to contact them soon so we can discuss the eveent in more details, which include the approximate day for the adoption, as well as the program for the day. Yay, another park to consider!
