My Kahiau project is life below water, with that said industrial age and revolutions impact my goal because of water pollutants. For example, since plastic has just been invented people didn't know the long term affects for it. Now we are dealing with the affects of being uneducated and not preforming studies needed to release trash into the ocean. Although it has help with garbage with actually giving it a place to go, back then there wasn't garbage trucks to go around and collect rubbish to where it needed to go. Things such as over-production of food or mass populations in tiny spaces contributes to waste with things such a fertilizing runoff, oil spills from transportation, and human waste. There are pros and cons to the revolutions, though with all these new strategies to manage waste, there is a long way to go to fully stop pollution of the ocean. Yurasits, B. (2019, September 23). I think that understanding history as well as knowing are culture does help. I believe that ancient Hawaiʻi had a lot of strategies to keep the land clean and use our resources well. We can also use history as a tool for improvement. We can look at situations are problems that happened later in time and analyze what couldʻve been done differently. With technology now we are able to advocate for truly anything we believe in. We are able to spread word about problems we experiences and how it not only affects Hawaiians, but people world-wide. We can see if another country is experiencing that problem, we can relate to them and come together as a whole for a solution to whatever needed to be done. Thats what the sustainability goals are, its a list of problems countries around the world recognize and need to help solve. B. (2019, October 4). Hawaii’s Ancient Aquaculture Revival.
