Current Event Analysis Global and HawaiiIn Calgary, Canada on July 8, there was a really bad hailstorm that destroyed many property and crops. The effects after the storm were most horrific as the total repairs needed are very expensive. Sarah writes that the estimate $1.2B is only a baseline estimate and could go higher. This issue connects to the geography theme of Location. When people move to a certain area or are raised there they develop an understanding of the lifestyle and the weather. It is important to know these things before moving to a different location and creating a home there.
My opinion on this disaster is very empathetic towards the people and also very understanding. My mentality and way of thinking puts the land towards the top of my list or priorities. Since I think this way I know that this mustʻve been hard but I know that this is something that wouldʻve happened no matter what and itʻs natural. This disaster connects to the World History theme of Decent Work and Economic Growth. This UN Development goal connects to how much the community is going to have to work together to recover and regain momentum. This is only a bump in their journey and from here they can show how strong they are through their economic growth.
