Whoʻs contribution to society & quote greatly impacts your Kahiau Project topic? “To become truly great, one has to stand with people, not above them” It impacts it because he was into separation of power and society being divided based on monarchy and such so it really shows that he wouldn’t put care among those in poverty. Theorist 2: Rene Descartes “It is not enough to have a good mind; the main thing is to use it well” Did medicine practice so it contributes to our health now and the growth of our history to better society. His medicine practice and research could maybe even impact the care for those in poverty. Whoʻs quote closely aligns to your personal values as a leader? Theorist 1: Denis Diderot “No man has received from nature the right to command his fellow human beings.” The fact that he opposed slavery really comes to mind as a great leader to treat your people equally and to treat them as they should be treated, not as if theyʻre your slaves and you could control them. Theorist 2: Adam Smith “The real tragedy of the poor is the poverty of their aspirations.” He believes that we should focus ourselves around having a “hard-working” mentality and that in order to stay up you must do your part and work and I feel that as a leader you must have that trait too, to have the ambition to achieve something instead of thinking in a poor and poverty mentality. Reflecting back on your knowledge of your Kahiau Project Topic, the UN Sustainable Goals, and the purpose and intent of the Kahiau Project to learn about and apply your own leadership values to a real-world problem in our community…answer the following reflection:
As a group, we planned to make care packages for kids and adults that are in need for Christmas. We intended to fill them with hygienic items and helpful necessities. Unfortunately, Moani ended up getting sick and we couldn’t complete the project. Additionally, we all were busy as well. In conclusion, our project idea itself was well and properly thought out. If we could have completed it, I feel like it wouldʻve been very successful. What could’ve been better was if we actually were able to do it. If everything aligned right and things worked out then our project would’ve had a great turn out. I feel like my understanding of poverty and other UN issues of humanity are improving. With each class, my knowledge is growing and Iʻm learning new things that are worldwide as well as how to be a good leader and improve some poor decisions. I always tend to reflect back on what we learned and remind myself not to make the same mistakes but to learn from them. In our Kahiau project, we planned to apply that to what we were going to do by helping out those in need instead of leaving them to fend for themselves, sometimes its good to have a helping hand and we planned to be just that. |
