Reflecting back on the World War 1 & 2 Scientific Advancements made in the name of Technology, was the cost to humanity worth the gain? Explain with evidence from the lecture (cite sources in APA Citations)
In my opinion, it wasn’t worth the gain. Reflecting back towards our Kahiau Project, we notice the rise in poverty not only because of money but its being in wars like these that leave people in critical condition and lose their homes. Yes, I feel like it was worth the gain in new technology-wise, but for humanity no not really. Now if you reflect on Hawaii, weʻre affected as a place of testing for bombs or anything really on Kahoʻolawe. They say these weapons are gone but really there are bombs still there in hiding that we just can’t see or know of. How has / do these advancements continue to impact our modern society here in Moananuiākea & Hawaiʻi? As a modern kānaka leader, do you think that the cost to our lāhui, our ʻāina, our ʻohana is worth the gain to “society”? Explain and defend your opinion with evidence from the lecture or elsewhere (Verbally cite your sources & cite your sources in your post using APA Citations) Again like I said before, it affects Hawaii because weʻre a base of testing. Not only that but they illegally overthrew us and moved their military here as an extension of the US. If you look at it, the Pearl Harbor bombing dealing with Japan would have never happened if we weren’t overthrown by the US, so overall Hawaii will always be affected by the USʻs doings. I feel like our lāhui, ʻāina, and ʻohana is most definitely not worth the gain to “society”! What did we ever do to deserve this? Our queen, as well as Kalākaua, were humble and generous to everyone they met, seeing that weʻve made friends with Britain and the US and received many gifts. I still don’t get why we out of all people were chosen to be treated the way were and still are. We still aren’t treated right seeing with the Maunakea movement and our idiot of a governor cant even listen to his people. Don’t get me wrong weʻre thankful that you see our place as such a wonderful to build your telescope, but will we take it? No, not on sacred land. I feel like everything that happens to Hawaiʻi isn’t fair and “society” shouldn’t have control over our people and invade our land.
