We can still balance our European/Western sense but I feel like we have to embrace out Native values more. For example, we can take care of our land. If you see some trash on the ground you should go pick it up. Basically anything we can do to preserve our land helps out. Our ancestors relied heavily on the land and it helped them out a lot. So the least we can do is to take care of it. To make sure that we are valued in the future we should have things that only our Native people know how to do. For example, the food we make and other things we make. If only our Native people knew about those things our culture would have something more to offer. Everyone that gets the opportunity to be in Kamehameha should take their opportunity to learn and educate themselves. If people take it seriously they can do some amazing things in the future that can help out the lāhui. For every spot taken at Kamehameha, 10 other people would want to be in your position. We should use that as a way to take our school a little bit more seriously. People from our school could be the next president or impactful leader like Gandhi. People of color are still being mistreated right now and only one native has to speak up. Having a permanent impact on people of color would be the first step to having our people remain steadfast. 5-malama-aina. (2016, December 01). Retrieved July 09, 2020, from
