Some leadership skills that are needed to address and execute big picture is communication, vision, open-minded, and empathy. You need communication because to even start doing something that can help people understand the damage that had happened during the Enlightenment, the Industrial Revolution, Colonization, and Imperialization we need to speak up on the topic and let those who donʻt know the facts what really has happened and the problem that came after. Vision is also important big picture wise because to start something such as an organization or just a protest, you need to have a vision of what you want to happen and it should be a world without hunger as a problem. Open-minded is also a quality I believe you need because in order to truly understand the pain people go through who struggle with hunger you need to be open to new perspectives. Lastly, I think it is important to have empathy because if you donʻt feel for the people who struggle from this problem then you will not want to help.
The leadership qualities you need small picture are actually mainly the same; communication, open-minded, and empathy. The reasons why I believe this is the same as the big picture. You need communication to spread the word and ideas. You need to be open minded to understand the pain people who struggle from hunger go through. Lastly, you need empathy mainly in Hawaiʻi because those who struggle from hunger may be your family or neighbors or friends. When you care for the person to much all you want to do is help and you will.

Learning about different leaders has impacted my leadership growth the most this semester. This is because learning about not only the good leadership qualities, but the bad ones helps me know what to do and not to do when I am in school, outside of school, or at sports practices. In a lot of the sports teams I play on people look up to me based on my actions, but I know that to become a better leader I have to do it both through action and verbally. So, learning about the good leaders and bad leaders help me learn to become a better leader myself. Also learning about problems that need more leaders that will help helps me because I am able to know that ,after sports and school, I can go help these issues someday.

The ability to choose majority of our topics in projects has helped my intrinsic motivation. This is because when I am able to choose something in a project that will have to be shown to the class, I then understand the responsibility I have to finish it. Also, when I choose a topic I am more interested in it and I am able to put more time into it. I have always tried my best to make sure that whatever I start I will finish because then I know I can live with the results. However, knowing that I am like this, being able to choose a topic that is interesting to me helps me not only finish it but to do it with quality. When reflecting back on the World War 1 and 2 scientific Advancements made in the name of Technology, I do not believe that the cost to humanity was worth the gain. I say this because a lot of the advancements made were made to destroy, kill, and create chaos. For example, the atomic bomb. In just the testing phase of the bomb, it caused damage to the earth, other animals, and even humans (in the case when the US bombed the Marshall islands). Even worse when the bomb was set off in Japan, killing many many innocent people and leaving post consequences. This is why I donʻt understand the benefits of creating these war technologies if they are only helping people kill others. Itʻs just not worth it. There are still a lot of consequences from these advancements that still impact our modern society here in Hawaiʻi. I can even build on from what I was saying about the bombs. When the US was testing this new technology they set one off in the Marshall Islands. These were inhabited islands. There are still descendants from the people who were alive during these tests that face the consequences from all the radiation their kupuna was exposed to. The bombs also serve as a threat and a source of fear to people as well. Just recently a couple years ago there was that scare with a bomb coming to Hawaiʻi. That put everyone in panic and fear. The creations of these deadly technologies bring just damage physically and mentally. It is not worth advancing these technologies at the cost of lives or even money. Thatʻs my opinion The plan for the community service was to attend a food drive for non profit organization such as Meals on Wheels. This non-profit is to help deliver meals to elderly people who do not have the ability to make or get their own meals by themselves. What ended up happening with the planned community service over the winter break was it was rearranged due to everyone’s busy schedule.
Nothing really went well because we did not get to do it. What could have gone better for the project was to actually come together as a group and do what was planned. However, due to each of our different schedules we were not able to find a day that would allow us to carry out our plan. Yes, because although we were not able to actually do the community service, making the plan itself informed us about what non-profits such as Meals on Wheels do to help people who deal with hunger. We also learned more of the seriousness of this issue and also what are some ways we would be able to help. Our connection/application of leadership skills is expanding as a result of what we’re doing in the Kahiau Project because we’ve made a plan on how we could help our communities through acts of kindness. However, it couldn’t be executed because of everyone’s busy schedules during the winter break.
